TRUMPISM

Traditional and, in particular, post ww2 processes and routes towards dealing with natiinal interests ( in this case US) was based on slow diplomatic talks and pressures , leverage  international bodies like UN , world Bank, IMF etc  to advantage.  Even though the US and other developed nations manipulated the process through back door efforts, it still meant slow progress and often a stalemate. So, as a conseqence, the US often tried to use  force to get what it wants ( Middle east , Afghanistan for US . Falkland,  Argentina in case of UK, Ukraine for US and Russia) with doubtful results. Still, the balance of power, economic development of China, weakness of UK and EU, conservative US leadership etc  made US efforts less effective.

Then comes Trump's second term. 

He had no faith in the slow uncertain process. He is a impatient deal maker used to taking huge risks. He saw through the system in his first term.

So he starts by shaking up the sleeping and semi dead processes and systems. Shakes up the old world order. Puts uncertainty, fear into the adversaries and friends alike. Went straight to what he and probably US wants. He got the vested commercial intrests of his friends upfront and openly tied this with US national intrests. He put the formidable US milatary presence, across the world, to use. 

Friends and foe could no longer relax. Classical foreign carrier diplomats ran helter shelter. Heads of state, either sucumbed or waited with anxiety, on the sidelines. Few like Putin and Xi, used their own power to resist Trump.  As if waiting in the wings to adopt the same strategy. 

Trump threatened, even insulted nations, pushing them and others to act and find a favourable solution for the US. 

At the end of the day Trump will get  much more than he could have got using the old methods. But  all this will come at the cost of trust among friends. Others will take counter  measures to resist the US  in future. Other strong powers will too use this method. 

We will now witness a unstable world order.A higher entropic world. One man managed it in less than a year. Atlas shrugged!
