Dissection of the Covid Impact

 Impact of Covid : Yes it has! 

 But there is a more fundamental reason for the Change the world is grabbling with.


 Covid may not have  a lasting impact on the economy,  employment and business in the medium and long term. Exception maybe in the health care industry and Insurance. Its an exaggeration to factor  covid as the paradigm  shifting phase. Nowhere is it as impactfull  as the 2nd world war did!! The change , however, that we see around us and  across the globe is real. The is mainly due to the way technology, information age and globalisation( In this, factors like huge migration of working population , educated and semi skilled, to cities in the country as well as across the world and across culture, is a major factor) is eveloving at much faster pace, impacting all the areas of life,  significantly.  Changing every which way we function and respond ..Jobs  that managed the old receding technology and ways of life are being  shed but new ones  are created. However, these new ones are in a aeas that  factor newer technologies, needing reskilling. Therefore, there will be temporary heartburn for some and opportunities for the others. Example: Jobs in retailing or small businesses were lost during the last  half a decade  only to be created in modern retail( Malls, supermarkets) and in App based delivery systems.. Covid added to this change, adversely  off course. It fast tracked the job losses ( largely rural ones)  making many believe that it is the root cause. Another dimension I see is that advanced developed nations are leapfroging   into a far more advanced  regime based on AI, or based on space exploration and related technologies,  or even shedding mobile based communications , virtual reality, robotics, biotechnology and genetics, and so on, leaving :yet to catch up" but still  emerging  nations like India to  learn and catch up on  receding technologies ( manufacturing hub being shifted to India for example of old technology based processes ).and develop. The gap , however will remain.

These changes are permanent and will exponentially increase. That us then the only new normal!

    The new normal? Is it normal? Technology and advanced use of AI and robotics is welcome. It should have happened anyway..
    But the world has changed for the Rich . No place for poor anymore. No place for blacks and browns.. no place for minority. No place for socialisam or Democracy for that matter. All vommunist countries are isolated. It has become a world ruled by capitalistic autocrats . A world you have to live with fear

1% BETTER EVERYDAY GOAL

 Someone posted some Gyan! Saying if you do 1% better everyday, in small increments and deeds, you will be reaching your goals!  Set me analysing it. Here are my thoughts on a lazy cloudy  saturday: The 1% better or improvements would tantamount to perfection i.e 100% in 100 days. You get to be where no human has been before. On the frontiers of being God himself. You may even replace Him as he too would not be 100% perfect, considering the mess He has created.  The problem with this approach is, however, multifold.  Firstly, there could be days where you slip 1% or even more. For example, the wife   may frequently  consider you useless!! So this means many more days than 100 to reach 100%. Secondly, as you reach closer to 100%, what physicists call as asymtotically approach 100%, the going gets tougher and tougher. AN ENCOUNTER WITH COUNT DRACULA The experience of boarding of the ATR aircraft of Serbian Airways at the  Belgrade airport reminded one of the confusion that prevails in a small Indian  airport. However, the flight left quickly enough and the efficient cabin crew helped us kill time with a shot of Rakia bar and a pack of peanuts. We landed in Bucharest , Romania, in about an hour and 20 minutes and managed to exit the airport after paying a fortune to the cabbie. The traffic in the city crawled but our patience  exhausted faster and after exchanging few expletives between the five of us , more to give vent to our frustration , we reached our hotel.  As you grow older you get naughtier , so they say.
