AFGANISTAN : WHERE IS THE KABULIWALA
It was called the " the graveyard of the invaders"
for good reasons. A land that saw many dynasties occupy it for a while only to lose control.
The Russians found that truth and left, though they realised it early. The Americans , often too carried away by their military power, took over two and half decades to accept failure and has now almost left. The countless death and destruction, the alienation of people of several Islamic states, the fueling of terrorism across the world all of no avail. But for lining of the pockets of manufacturers of military hardware.
It took Taliban just few months to overcome all the capability built by the Americans among its choosen local Afgans. The US tried to preserve its influence by propping up a governement lead by Karzai and then by Ashraj Ghani. That was possible only with the presence of American boots on the ground. Now that the troops have left, Afghanistani Taliban has taken control of major part and could soon have the whole place under them. Alongwith it , off course, an extreme Islamic state.
India was compelled to also support the puppet US government in the hope that the region will be stable and not become a hot bed of extremisim.
After 2014 India tried to have a defensive military role too, flexing its hollow 56" chest. Now that obviously has come to roost. We are back to square one. India evacuated its Khandhar consulate yesterday the 10th of July. Kabul may follow after a while. Our investments in the country in infra developments now will come to naught. We had taken a calculated risk, one that we had to take, but now that seems to have crashed.
We have to gear up to handle a difficult terror situation in the region.
No one has yet tried to diplomatically handle the proud pathan. The Kabuliwala no longer exists. The loan money collector looks a saint. Its Talibanisation all over.
