Social media and politics 


We all have seen an enormous number of content exchanged via the social media  Facebook, Instagram , WA etc. These have content that are authentic, plain forwards, personnel opinion, propaganda, lies, half truth, rumors , humorous , highly inflammatory, defaming, insulting, praising, worshiping and a variety of reactions and responses, reflecting ones sate of mind, values, ideology, commitment or plain stupidity.

 Is it serving a purpose? If so whose? 
Most likely it does help spread information, knowledge and awareness. It even may serve as an outlet for ones anger, frustration or plain boredom. Probably all of these in various combinations and to a limited extend.

 However, there also is an expected fallout. One that is a heavy price to pay. Something ,which could destroy the social fabric. 

One would have noticed that as we indulge in this frenzy we come across angry , upset and distraught friends, relatives , family , office mates, college mates , teachers, bosses and practically all those who matter to us, all those who make up our life . All , slowly and steadily, move away from having a pleasant feel about each other to being uncomfortable when we come on line, to loosing our trust , friendship , love and finally abandoning each other and the chat group. 
A deep and permanent wound in our relationship materialists. A wound that we may never get a chance to heal. A loss that impacts our life in many ways. 
Politics , ideology and the the people associated with it are the ones you root for. They are the ones due to which you ended up losing many dear ones. Are they worthy of that? Are the causes they expound so important? Is it necessary to offend opponents? Is the cause bigger than relationship. Should the medium , with huge possibilities, be used to destroy? 

All points to ponder. Anyone who believes that this is true must stand back and review. Human spirit , virtues of human values and a world increasingly concerned about respect for every living being must question this compulsive urge to damage our own social existence. Should we expose our self to and let our self be manipulated by those who wish to control our thoughts and behavior to suit their interests? Should we impose our views on others. The idea is not to suggest avoidance of debate. But to be sensitive to where, when and how we conduct that. In a civilized manner. The extreme and conflicting interests that , at various points of time, exercise control of this nations destiny does facilitate an extreme environment for debate. It will take us some self control and maturity not to fall prey to them. Only will it then help us to evolve into a modern society . We owe that to future generations

1% BETTER EVERYDAY GOAL

 Someone posted some Gyan! Saying if you do 1% better everyday, in small increments and deeds, you will be reaching your goals!  Set me analysing it. Here are my thoughts on a lazy cloudy  saturday: The 1% better or improvements would tantamount to perfection i.e 100% in 100 days. You get to be where no human has been before. On the frontiers of being God himself. You may even replace Him as he too would not be 100% perfect, considering the mess He has created.  The problem with this approach is, however, multifold.  Firstly, there could be days where you slip 1% or even more. For example, the wife   may frequently  consider you useless!! So this means many more days than 100 to reach 100%. Secondly, as you reach closer to 100%, what physicists call as asymtotically approach 100%, the going gets tougher and tougher. AN ENCOUNTER WITH COUNT DRACULA The experience of boarding of the ATR aircraft of Serbian Airways at the  Belgrade airport reminded one of the confusion that prevails in a small Indian  airport. However, the flight left quickly enough and the efficient cabin crew helped us kill time with a shot of Rakia bar and a pack of peanuts. We landed in Bucharest , Romania, in about an hour and 20 minutes and managed to exit the airport after paying a fortune to the cabbie. The traffic in the city crawled but our patience  exhausted faster and after exchanging few expletives between the five of us , more to give vent to our frustration , we reached our hotel.  As you grow older you get naughtier , so they say. We too felt that and so decided to visit the old city for a sting of club hopping.
